A sex worker wearing a ginger wig burgled an 81-year-old Korean War veteran after the old soldier repeatedly turned down her advances.
Unscrupulous Kiran Pardesi, 37, had badgered victim Raymond Gill at his home in a Winson Green tower block on a least two occasions offering him sex for money.
But after he sent her packing she returned early one morning and forced her way into his home.
When the veteran again refused her services she rifled through his pockets stealing £200 leaving him unable to buy a meal at the care centre he visited daily.
She was later identified by police from CCTV footage recovered in the tower block and eventually admitted a burglary.
As Pardesi, of Peel Street, Winson Green, was jailed for three years at Birmingham Crown Court it was heard the sex worker had previous convictions for burglary and fraud.
And while the court heard she had battled mental health and addiction problems Judge Stephen Eyre QC said prison was the only option.
He told the vice girl; ”I accept you have mental health difficulties but it is clear from the circumstances of this offence this offence was not caused by those difficulties.
‘You have not taken the opportunities given to you by way of help.
‘The appropriate sentence therefore is a prison sentence.
‘You forced your way in and took a substantial sum of money.
‘To him £200 was a lot of money.
‘You overpowered him when he tried to stop you in the home he had lived in for 45 years or more.
‘It upset him, understandably, at the time and had a lasting effect.
‘You deliberately entered and stole from someone you knew was elderly.
‘You have been offered help in the past but the extent of re-offending shows you have not taken the opportunities given to you.’
Nicholas Tatlow, prosecuting, said Pardesi knocked on Mr Gill’s door at around 8.40am on September 9 last year.
The war veteran thought it was his lift to the day care centre he attended five days a week.
Instead he found Pardesi on his doorstep who then who barged her way into the flat.
Mr Tatlow said; ‘He had met her weeks before when she knocked on his door offering sex services.
‘He sent her packing and the incident was reported to the police.’
Mr Tatlow said persistent Pardesi had knocked on the old soldier’s door on other occasions and each time had been refused.
‘On September 9 she offered him sex for money and he said no.
‘She searched through his trousers pockets and took around £200 cash and walked out.
‘He telephoned the care centre in obvious distress and when he did attend the care centre he was nervous, agitated and distressed.
‘The loss of the £200 affected his ability to pay for essentials and a meal at the day care centre on the day of the robbery.
After being identified on CCTV police arrested Pardesi at her home where they found the ginger wig and leather jacket she wore during the raid.
Martin Brunt, defending, said Pardesi had suffered problems with addiction and mental health issues.
He said; ‘She is a vulnerable person in her own way.’
